September 13 - October 20, 2012
Opening reception : Thursday, September 13, 18 h 30
Open Studio is pleased to present Inlandsis, an exhibition by Montréal, QC-based artist, Andrée-Anne Dupuis-Bourret from September 12 – October 20, 2012. The exhibition is accompanied by a text by Toronto, ON-based artist and writer Daryl Vocat.
The landscapes we believe to be permanent can sometimes transform to the point where certain world representations vanish. Inlandsis deals with this shift. Through a site-specific installation constructed out of 5000 pieces of screenprinted and folded paper, the artist places the viewer in a space between real landscape and its imagined transposition. Calling to mind an ice mass, the work explores the growth of a form by multiplication, repetition and juxtaposition. Each module is encased to form a modeling of a virtual and abstract place — a hybrid space between drawing and sculpture.
